Hope is the most essential feeder for growth in any nation. What Hope asks for is focus to build a nation that is compassionate, humble, confident and above all a great one.
The great Indian obsession with wanting to be a great power is impractical, completely undesirable and nonsensical. I want India to be a GREAT NATION instead of just a GREAT POWER. I want a CREDIBLE INDIA instead of being a part of INCREDIBLE INDIA, because:
- Great Powers destroy, Great Nations Nurture
- Great Powers are built by Rulers, Great Nations are built by its Citizens
Unfortunately contemporary History is filled with many such examples which supports this thought. Without exception many nations who were once super power failed to the core; be it the Roman Empire, French or the British Empire. All of them have been liquidated. The American empire is now teetering on the brink of collapse.
- where the ruled and rulers are equal in terms of everything
- where everybody feels a sense of belonging
- where research is given primary importance
- where education is central
- where relationships matter above all else
These are quite a few things which I expect from my Mother Land. When I say we need an India 'where the ruled and the rulers are equal'; I mean to say something like what happens in Turkey. In Turkey when Tayyip Erdogan came into power, he ruled that ministers and members or parliament ought to live in their own houses. He argued, "If you want to be representative of people, you must live and work with your people". That is what I expect from India.
When I say "everybody feels a sense of belonging", I say it on the basis of something which happened in Switzerland (I didn't visit Switzerland but read it in some magazine). Micheline CalmRey - the former President of Switzerland was forced to stand and travel in train because there were no seats available. Though there was one seat vacant for the physically handicapped, the ticket checker didn't allot it to her and she didn't mind for the same. That is the best example how I want my co-citizens and politicians in power to be.
I want an India where Research and Education is given the prime importance. I am not just satisfied with being a part of the Outsourcing Hub of the world, I want my Nation to be the Manufacturing and Educational Hub of the world.
I want an India which maintains a great trade and commerce relationship with the countries in world. I want a Credible India which promises me a secured and great Future. I am not satisfied with just being a part of INCREDIBLE INDIA ,I want to be iN CREDIBLE INDIA.

its a dream come true if we could see our INDIA like that
ReplyDeleteThough the chance of seeing such an India is very low; still if we do our duty by selecting the right candidate during election and also if we do our bit as the citizens in capacity of student, business man, house wives or an Individuals then we may see it before we die :)

Dear Rohit,
ReplyDeleteAn idealistic view. Well presented. As you said hope is the crux of the future, we all hope a day will come when your dreams comes true. I have prepared a blue print for such a future, but since I being a common man could not reach to the relevant people like Abdul Kalam, Mr Narayanamurthy etc etc who can pull of the project. I have conceived a project for a better India and a better society, which is possible, if the people I mentioned will cooperate and participate. However, no problem, a day may come, everything will be changed for good. I liked your examples - Ruled and Rulers are equal, the example of switzerland former president standing in the train. Keep it up and continue the good work.

Dear Sir,
DeleteThanks for sparing some time and going through the blog. Also heartfelt thanks for your idealistic and sincere comments on the same.
Actually the problem with the common man is that "he tries to be common"; just think for an alternative and keep chasing your dreams and goals.
"Lets not regret on our death bed in future that - I hope I should have taken that step".
