FDI in Retail: A Joke of Economics which a common man doesnot understand.

The FDI in Retail sector in India has been the attention seeker of majority of its stake holders like Vendors, Retailers (Organized and Unorganized), Government Bodies, Manufacturers, Prospective employers , Investors and Common man (potential consumers) etc . In the huge list of the stake holders associated with this current issue of FDI in Retail, the common man seems to be the one who doesn't understand or bother about what this FDI means and all because for him its a joke of economics which is far from his/her understanding. I have been since long engrossed and involved in studying and understanding the patterns of current trend in retail sector in India which is basically because of the project Research work delegated to me as a part of my post Graduation curriculum. My involvement in conversation with few of the people in this process has enlightened me to the following points:
  • Basically majority of the so called COMMON MAN are not aware or bothered to know about FDI
  • Majority of the kirana or small store owners say that they are not feared of any big retail giants eating away their pie
  • Majority of them are keen that they would prefer buying from a local kirana or grocery store rather than visiting this branded stores
My conversation with this so mentioned MAJORITY made me analyze that this section of the stake holders are the ones who doesn't understand this joke of economics which many of the other stake holders are understanding and expanding their lungs with happy laughs of jokes.

Probably so and forth I proceed through my analysis, I may be able to write more about it.

Till then,
Bye and thanks from this blogger who is also a Human Being like you.

Entrepreneurship and the Scale of Feasibility & Reality....

ENTREPRENEURSHIP...... The Buzzing word all over the world. What is so interesting about Entrepreneurship that is attracting the huge lot of youngsters graduating from colleges and the employees fed up with their work?. The answer for this is crystal clear- "Every one wants to be their own boss"...

Yes, that's the magnetic thought that is making the thirst for Entrepreneurship so popular. Research shows that a decade before when in Indian colleges and schools if the professor asked the students what they want to do, the answer was varied like I want to be a Doctor, an Engineer, an IAS, Senior Manager in XYZ company etc but none use to say that I want to start on my own. But today the world has changed two folds. Every class of every college in every part of India has at least 20% students aspiring for becoming an Entrepreneur. That can be called as a great asset or vision which could benefit India in the long run. But the questions remains, How many of the so called aspirants achieve their goal of becoming an entrepreneur. I guess not even 2% of the total aspirants.
The reason for such huge gap between aspiring students to turn into entrepreneurs and the students turning into entrepreneurs is that the scale of feasibility and Reality doesn't match to the vision they have. Every one wants to become TATA's, BIRLA's, GATES, BUFFET's etc in one shot. But Entrepreneurship is not a one day picnic, its a continuous year after year prayer.

I sometimes get very baffled about the fact that many of the students when asked to create a business plan as a part of simulation exercise, do create something like 5star hotels, a multi-chain retail stores etc but they never consider the feasibility of the idea they are encrypting on the paper. They never actually try to analyse the environment they are in.

Therefore it becomes really necessary to relate whatever one does to the reality in the business market and its feasibility. Of course, if the Entrepreneurship is taken seriously and one work towards it considering all the factors and environment, then nothing is like it in this world.

Lastly i would like to quote : . “Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won’t so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can’t.”

Thanks,
